The 20 Tonne Textile School Challenge

Some of the money raised recently has been donated to Water Aid. Below is a picture of some of the Eco-Committee handing over a £100 cheque to Water Aid's representative, Janet Hudson.

Hope Academy have been working alongside Bags2School and Faith4Change to raise money by supporting the 20 Tonne Textile School Challenge. Students, teachers and parents have all supported the scheme by donating unwanted clothes. The scheme will try to...

Raise money for the Academy - £500 per tonne (money will be given back to the Academy to support sustainable school projects)

             Reduce landfill waste

Reduce energy and material used to make other products.

             Re-use clothes in poorer countries.

Recycle the textiles so they can be used in other products, like mattress fillings.

Here are some students who kindly donated their unwanted clothes.

A special mention goes to Laura Pendelbury (Y7 - EVC4), who collected 17 bags worth of textiles to support the campaign. Well done and thank you Laura!
